M-103 Is An Argument From Intimidation

As I watch the news, I see increasingly ominous signs of this country’s accelerating slide into tyranny. The biggest one has got to be the Trudeau government’s anti-Islamophobia motion in the House of Commons, M-103. This is a disturbing attack on freedom of speech by the “Liberals”. The full text of M-103 reads:
That, in the opinion of the House, the government should: (a) recognize the need to quell the increasing public climate of hate and fear; (b) condemn Islamophobia and all forms of systemic racism and religious discrimination and take note of House of Commons’ petition e-411 and the issues raised by it; and (c) request that the Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage undertake a study on how the government could (i) develop a whole-of-government approach to reducing or eliminating systemic racism and religious discrimination including Islamophobia, in Canada, while ensuring a community-centered focus with a holistic response through evidence-based policy-making, (ii) collect data to contextualize hate crime reports and to conduct needs assessments for impacted communities, and that the Committee should present its findings and recommendations to the House no later than 240 calendar days from the adoption of this motion, provided that in its report, the Committee should make recommendations that the government may use to better reflect the enshrined rights and freedoms in the Constitution Acts, including the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Exactly what is meant by a “whole-of-government approach to reducing or eliminating systemic racism and religious discrimination including Islamophobia, in Canada…”? Canada has a huge, intrusive government, reaching every part of the lives of all Canadians. Right down to health care, thanks to our government monopolized system of single-payer socialized medicine. What horrors could these people come up with in the name of reducing or eliminating Islamophobia? This has the makings of a blasphemy law to crush all criticism of Islam. It is an assault upon the very concept of freedom of speech. That it is a motion, rather than a bill, makes it more ominous rather than less. If it were a bill, it would have to go to committees for amendment, it would go through three readings in the House of Commons, it would be voted upon, it would have to go through the Senate. But being a motion, it doesn’t have to go through these steps. it is basically a statement of opinion. It is ultimately an argument from intimidation. It is a trap: anyone who votes against it will be treated as a racist and an “Islamophobe”. The Liberals will use it to beat up on the Conservatives. The Conservatives will crumple under the pressure, and I expect most, if not all, will vote for it. They will justify voting for it on the basis that it is a symbolic vote, that it isn’t a real bill, and that they are being nice to all the peaceful Muslims. But that nearly unanimous or completely unanimous vote will give the Trudeau government carte blanche to pass additional laws crushing freedom of speech, and turbo-charge existing ones. The Liberals have submitted to Islam, by deed if not by declaration.
